Privacy Policy
How UNLEARN collects, uses, protects, and shares information.
Effective date: August 9, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how UNLEARN (“UNLEARN,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you visit or use unlearnthelies.com and related UNLEARN website features (the “Service”).
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information: name, email address, password hash, profile information, and account preferences.
- Study information: private notes, highlights, bookmarks, reading progress, collections, followed subjects, and workspace records you choose to save.
- Community content: questions, responses, comments, group posts, reports, and other material you submit. Content submitted to public areas may be visible to others.
- Communications: newsletter choices, email preferences, support requests, and messages you send us.
- Administrative connection data: authorized administrators may connect third-party services such as YouTube. Related authorization tokens and imported content are stored only as needed to operate those features.
Information collected automatically
When you use the Service, our systems may record your IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, referring page, dates and times, session identifiers, security events, feature activity, searches, and general usage statistics. We use this information to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service.
Payments and support
Financial transactions and recurring support payments are processed by third-party providers such as PayPal. UNLEARN does not intend to store your complete payment-card or bank-account number. The payment provider handles that information under its own privacy policy.
How we use information
- Provide accounts, Bible-study tools, saved study features, community areas, and requested content.
- Authenticate users, maintain sessions, prevent abuse, and protect the Service.
- Respond to requests and provide account or service communications.
- Send newsletters and ministry updates you requested and manage opt-outs.
- Measure first-party usage, diagnose errors, and improve content and features.
- Moderate submissions and enforce our Terms of Use.
- Comply with law and protect the rights, safety, and integrity of users, UNLEARN, and others.
Where a law requires a legal basis for processing, we rely as applicable on performance of our agreement with you, legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, your consent, and compliance with legal obligations.
Cookies and similar technology
UNLEARN uses essential cookies or similar browser storage for sign-in sessions, security, saved preferences, and core site functions. Embedded content and third-party services may set their own cookies or collect information according to their policies. You can control cookies through your browser, but blocking essential cookies may prevent account features from working.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose limited information:
- To service providers that help host, secure, maintain, email, or support the Service, including Bluehost and Brevo, subject to their service terms.
- At your direction or publicly when you submit content to public or community areas.
- For legal and safety reasons when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse, or enforce our terms.
- During an organizational change such as a merger, restructuring, or transfer of the Service, subject to appropriate safeguards.
The Service may link to or embed content from YouTube, Google, PayPal, and other third parties. Their handling of information is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
Email communications
You may unsubscribe from promotional or newsletter emails using the link in the message or the email-preferences page. We may still send necessary transactional, security, or account-related messages. We retain suppression records as needed to honor unsubscribe and abuse-prevention requests.
Data retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain security and records, honor your choices, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Retention varies by record type. Public submissions may remain after account closure when necessary to preserve discussions, attribution, safety, or legal records, but we may remove or anonymize identifying information where appropriate.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls, password hashing, secure sessions, and restricted storage. No internet service or storage method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and privacy rights
You may update certain profile and email settings through your account. You may also contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of personal information associated with you. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights, including the right to object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent, or appeal a decision. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where permitted or required by law.
Children’s privacy
The Service is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. Children under 13 may not create an account or submit personal information. If you believe a child under 13 provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate. Parents and guardians should supervise minors’ use of the Service.
International use
UNLEARN and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Those locations may have different data-protection laws than your location. Where required, we use appropriate measures for international processing.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy with a new effective date and provide additional notice when required.
