GLEAN

To glean is properly to gather ears of corn, or grapes, left by
the reapers, &c. The Jews were not allowed to glean their fields, but
were to leave this to the poor, Lev. xix, 10; xxiii, 22; Deut. xxiv, 21;
Ruth ii, 3.
